School Policies

Attendance/Tardy Policy

Understanding there is a strong correlation between students who are at school everyday and on time and their academic performance levels, we are strictly enforcing our attendance/tardy policies. These policies have been designed to support, encourage, and inspire students to excel academically by coming to school everyday and actively participating in their classes.  Also, recognizing that our transportation often presents difficulty when getting to school, we are asking that families help their students devise an appropriate plan that will help them get to school daily and on time.  Below is our school’s attendance/tardy policy:
·
Any student who has 3 or more unexcused absences in one marking term will receive No Credit (NC’s) in all of their classes, but only if he/she would have passed the class.
·
Any student who has more than 16 absences in one year will automatically have to attend summer school regardless of their final grade in their classes. (Seniors will not graduate)
·
Absences are only considered excused with an official notice (doctors note, court notice, etc).
·
An “NC” can be turned into a passing grade by staying after school and participating in an academically focused, teacher lead activity (i.e. after school homework center).  Every 6 hours in the after school program buys back one absence.
·
Every 3 unexcused tardies will equal 1 absence.  Students will only receive an excused tardy if they arrive to school on a late school bus.  Otherwise, it is unexcused tardy.
·
Any student absent more than 30 times (excused or unexcused) cannot attend summer school and will have to repeat the class (or grade).
