Urban Science Academy offers a number of activities during after school hours. Students can work with teachers for support and/or enrichment; they can participate in MCAS Preparation classes for ELA and Mathematics and be tutored by one of their peers, just to name a few.
Most after school activities run from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Some activities may run longer at the group advisor’s discretion. Student are encouraged to stay after school to enrich their learning experience and to broaden their horizons by getting involved in volunteer projects, Debate, Girls Group, Hip Hop Group, and other activities that are available at USA. USA is also open to starting clubs that upon students’ request.
Finally, staying after school for some students may make the difference in whether or not they are promoted to the next grade level. The after school program is available for students to take advantage of the “Attendance Buy-Back”. Students who have too many absences or tardies to receive grades for the term can use the after school time to reverse the NCs and so that they may obtain grades and course credit and ultimately be promoted to the next grade.
