USA Course Recommendation/Selection Guidelines
for Students and Teachers
School Year 2007-2008

Please note that both the scheduling committee and the Student Development Counselor will do the best to accommodate student requests, but there is absolutely no promise nor guarantee that a selection or recommendation will be honored in its entirety.
USA Core Graduation Requirements
- 4 years of science
- 4 years of math
- 4 years of Humanities
- 2 years of Spanish
- Electives in line with state requirements and to be determined by committee during SY 2006-2007 for implementation for class of 2008.
Freshmen next year will take the following courses:
- Humanities I
- Mathematics (geometry or algebra)
- Physics
- Spanish (levels to be determined by USA administered August assessment)
- Electives (determined by special education need, student interest and available space)
Sophomores next year will take the following courses:
- Humanities II
- Mathematics (geometry or Algebra II)
- Chemistry
- Spanish (levels TBD by teacher recommendation, transcript analysis)
- Electives (same guidelines as freshmen)
Juniors next year will take the following courses:
- Humanities III
- Mathematics (Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, AP Calculus AB)
- Science (Biology, Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, or AP Environ. Science. Half-year courses in bioethics, urban ecology, biotechnology, astronomy and meteorology).
- Spanish (including AP Spanish) or other elective(s)
- Additional Elective(s)
Seniors next year will take the following courses:
- Humanities IV
- Mathematics (Pre-Calculus, Statistics, AP Calculus AB,
- Science (same options as juniors)
- Spanish (including AP Spanish) or other elective(s)
- Additional Elective(s)
